Hatfield - Drivers disappearing act...

This silver Citroen van got the attention of our officers on Friday evening as it hurtled along Station road, Hatfield, clearly in excess of the speed limit.

Officers travelling in the opposite direction did a quick spin around and went in hot pursuit.

Trying to evade the Officers, the van took a swift left on to Cherry Tree Drive and left again on Abby Way before stopping.

A few seconds later Officers stopped behind the vehicle and noticed a male sat on a garden wall next to the van.

Officers noted the van lacked a driver and immediately raised their suspicions towards the gentleman who was sat on a wall basking in the afternoon sunshine without a care in the world. 

The man stated it was a works van and his friend was driving.

The obvious question to ask was - Where is this friend now?

A few more questions and a huge hole in the story led us to come to the conclusion the driver had magically disappeared or turned into the invisible man.

A quick search of the area and as if by magic the van key was found behind the garden wall this chap happened to be sat on. 

The game was up for this Disqualified driver.

The van has now been seized and will remain in a Police compound.
